Outpatient Behavioral HealthOverview of Position:
Provides therapeutic counseling to chemically dependent people using a bio-psychosocial approach. Educates patients and families regarding the disease process for chemical dependency. Conducts group therapy and leads group discussions, Works 1:1 with patients on chemical dependency issues and assigns group activities for Mental Health Technicians. Assesses the patient needs and recommends appropriate groups.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Completes billing charges/sheets daily.
2. Utilizes historic and current data in assessing patient needs.
3. Utilizes effecting interviewing skills and supportive counseling skills.
4. Provides individual and group crisis intervention, and family clinical interventions with chemical dependency clients.
5. Acts as client advocate, mediator, and facilitator.
6. Demonstrates competence in age specific patient care.
7. Assists with orientation of new staff and/or students.
8. Provides community services including development of programs.
9. Actively takes responsibility for meeting the clinical needs of inpatients with drug and alcohol issues, including groups, volunteers, educational material, etc.
10. Cross-trains as appropriate to credentials, licensure and scope of practice and department need.
11. Develops care plans based on assessment.
12. Conducts bio-psych social assessments.
13. Documents patient’s progress, care plans, assessments, etc. in the Electronic Medical Record
14. Performs other functions as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must have a minimum of an Associates Degree in a mental health/social work-related field. LSW or LPC preferred.
2. Must be licensed by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board. Credential may be CDCA, LCDC II, III, or LICDC. (applicants with a CDCA will be required to obtain a LCDC II or higher within three years of employment).
3. Therapeutic Services requires a LSW, LISW, PC, or PCC.
4. Skills to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate for the patient age.
5. Knowledge of chemical dependency processes and treatment modalities.
6. Demonstrated skills appropriate for ASAM levels of care; SASSI, CIWA, and DSM V usage.
7. Demonstrated knowledge base of chemical dependency/addiction to educate clients, families and community.
8. Must have excellent written and verbal skills to facilitate working with various multidisciplinary team members and community agencies.

2. Able to stand for one hour, sit for two hours. May need to bend twist, kneel, stoop and reach.
3. Able to deal with aggressive patients/participants both verbally and physically.

5. May be required to periodically rotate shifts and regular days off.
