Genesis Medical Group is a multi-specialty practice that strives to provide the best possible care to all patients in a caring and compassionate environment. Genesis is seeking experienced, Full-Time Molecular Lab Technologist to work in our Medical Lab in Kingwood.
JOB PURPOSE: The Molecular Laboratory Technologist is primarily responsible for performing all functions as they relate to high complexity molecular testing as well as running low/moderate complexity testing platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but are not limited to the following (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs):
· Perform all functions related to high complexity molecular testing and run low/moderate complexity testing platforms
· Only perform high complexity testing under the on-site direct supervision of a general supervisor, if required by personnel qualification requirements
· Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting test results
· Adhere to laboratory’s policies and procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
· Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies and document all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance
· Maintain records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
· Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, or director
· Follow the laboratories established policies and procedures and document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications
· Adhere to HIPAA compliance, laboratory safety and OSHA policies and procedures
· Attend and participate in departmental and team meetings
· Understand and be able to identify the location of laboratory manuals SOPs, Policy and Procedure, Proficiency Testing, Quality Control, etc.
· Understand all policies and procedures as they relate to quality control (QC): reagent storage/stability, calibration schedule/requirements, QC protocol/QC Action Log, review QC/test results, corrective action, etc.
· Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to order or delete tests, receive specimens, batch specimens, receive results from instruments, verify results, enter comments, look up test results, reprint test results, etc.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology or related life science field; OR qualify as a high complexity General Supervisor under current CLIA regulations
· Must have 2 years experience with hands-on molecular diagnostics techniques and trouble-shooting experience in a high complexity CLIA laboratory
· MB (ASCP) certification or equivalent preferred

· Ability to perform at a high level with minimal supervision – A self-motivated individual
· Strong scientific and analytical skills
· Advanced understanding of molecular diagnostics and techniques
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Punctual, honest, and trustworthy
· Astute attention to detail
· Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Knowledge of quality control practice and CLIA regulations
· Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems
· Strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Current CPR is required
