The Genesis Project is a residential group home for boys who have been through severe trauma, including abuse or neglect, ages 10-13. Genesis provides a stable environment where children learn to be children. The goal of the Genesis Project is to prepare each child for a long-term family placement. Treatment is individualized to address each child’s specific needs. Positive behaviors are reinforced to build self-esteem and encourage a sense of accomplishment.

The Genesis Project utilizes evidence-based, trauma-informed treatments, therapies, and training methods. We follow the six guiding principles of a trauma-informed approach: safety, trustworthiness and transparency, peer support, collaboration and mutuality, empowerment and choice, and cultural awareness.

This position requires a mix of morning, evening, and some weekend shifts. A degree in a related field is preferred, and prior experience is highly desirable. Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork are essential.

Position Responsibilities

The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all resident activities, including recreation, life skills development, and unstructured play. This role ensures activities support each child’s developmental and therapeutic needs while meeting documentation requirements.

This position reports directly to the Clinical Director.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Ensure adherence to all agency, DHS, and licensing standards, as well as Genesis policies and procedures.

2. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required; review and sign weekly staff meeting notes.

3. Remain awake, alert, and engaged with youth at all times to maintain a safe and structured environment.

4. Lead daily activities, facilitate unstructured outdoor play, and encourage positive peer interactions.

5. Plan, organize, and implement the weekly activity schedule, including recreational outings, therapeutic activities, and life skills classes.

6. Work with therapists to incorporate therapeutic elements into activities.

7. Assess each child’s strengths, interests, and needs upon admission to tailor activities accordingly.

8. Maintain detailed and timely documentation of youth participation in activities in accordance with the SPPU contract through OHS.

9. Develop and update a monthly activity calendar to keep residents and staff informed.

10. Provide structured opportunities for residents to develop independent living skills (e.g., hygiene, meal preparation, organization).

11. Support residents in developing social and emotional regulation skills through guided activities.

12. Maintain an inventory of recreational and activity-related equipment, ensuring proper storage and upkeep. Request necessary supplies through the Clinical Director.

13. Supervise and train direct care staff on facilitating daily activities effectively.

14. Provide crisis intervention and behavioral support when necessary.

15. Participate in treatment team meetings, offering insights on resident engagement and progress.

16. Be on-call approximately once per quarter.

Additional Responsibilities:

17. Foster a positive, supportive, and structured environment for residents.

18. Model appropriate social behaviors, problem-solving skills, and emotional regulation techniques.

19. Report maintenance concerns to the Operations Director.

20. Follow all mandated reporting requirements and maintain compliance with HIPAA confidentiality standards.

21. Assist direct care staff in resolving residents‘ daily challenges when needed.

22. Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
