Job Overview:
The Supervisor, Field Safety and Training is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of safety programs and training initiatives across field operations. This role ensures compliance with all safety regulations and standards while maintaining a safe working environment for all employees and contractors. The position involves leading safety audits, incident investigations, and collaborating with other departments to create a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Development:
- Develop, implement, and monitor field-specific safety policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Training Coordination:
Lead the development and delivery of safety training programs for field staff, ensuring employees are equipped with the knowledge to safely perform their jobs.
- Field Inspections & Audits:
Conduct regular field inspections and safety audits to ensure adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement.Lead investigations into accidents or safety incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Ensure compliance with FRA, OSHA and DOT regulations and other applicable safety laws. Maintain up-to-date records and reports for audits and inspections.Work closely with operations, HR, and leadership teams to promote safety awareness, provide support, and address any safety concerns.Champion safety in the field, encouraging a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement through engagement, feedback, and recognition.Compile reports, track key safety metrics, and communicate findings to senior management to support strategic safety planning.Develop and maintain emergency response plans for field operations, ensuring employees are trained on procedures for various emergencies.Qualifications:

- bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field or the equivalent and training and experience
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP)) are preferred.
- Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in field safety management and training.
- 1-2 years’ experience with Railroad, DOT, OSHA preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Proven experience in designing and conducting safety training programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to identify and mitigate safety risks in dynamic field environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Certifications:
- OSHA 30-Hour certification (or higher) preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- FRA 219 knowledge
- DOT compliance knowledge
Working Conditions:
- Physical Demands:
- This position requires regular field visits and the ability to observe and assess working conditions. Field environments may involve exposure to outdoor conditions and varying levels of physical activity.
- Travel:
High level of travel may be required to oversee operations across various field sites, conducting audits, and investigations as needed.
