About this opportunity: The medical support staff at The Colorectal Institute is a compassionate group of individuals who have demonstrated expertise in dealing with cancer patients and patients with colorectal issues. The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling diagnostic tests and surgical procedures at various facilities as directed by the surgeons of The Colorectal Institute.
Your key responsibilities:
- Prepare written orders for patients having test/procedure and fax to appropriate facility:
- Scheduling and follow-up on all diagnostic studies that are ordered.
- Communication with the patient, coordinating testing and surgery times.
- Deliver clear pre-op instructions to patient, ensuring understanding.
- Verify insurance benefits and obtain authorizations as needed.
- Assist with A/R management by identifying and collecting pre-surgery deductibles and co-insurance.
- Participate in annual OSHA/Biomedical training.
- Responsible for reporting or verifying all patient problems as reported to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain HIPAA rules and regulations as it applies to patient privacy.
- Assist with scheduling patients for initial consultations and follow-up visits to ensure appropriate patient load.
- Maintain open communication with front desk, physician and office staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in surgery or related scheduling
- Understanding of CPT and ICD-10
- Strong communication skills-both written and verbal. Bi-lingual strongly preferred.
- Professional and reliable
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrates care and compassion in dealing with patients
- Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented
- Good computer skills
