Job Summary
Assists with patient examinations and treatment; performs health histories, premlinary exams and patient education. Follows HIPPA guidelines with respect to disclosing protected health information. COA or COT preferred but experienced ophthalmic technicians encouraged to apply
Primary Duties:
- Escorts patients to treatment or examination room
- Prepares patient and gathers all necessary information
- Prepares necessary diagnostic and/or treatment equipment
- Assists with examinations and treatment procedures
- Instructs patients regarding proper preparation for tests and procedures ordered by the physician
- Disposes of contaminated supplies in accordance with OSHA requirements
- Scribe for physicians when applicable
- Calls patients, pharmacies or other medical sources to relay advice or instructions from the physician
- Accurately perform the following tasks in a timely manner: comprehensive history-taking, visual acuity testing, manual/automated lensometry, refractometry (minus cylinder), EOMs and muscle balance, confrontation visual fields, pupil assessment, retinoscopy, external exam, slit lamp exam, keratometry, topography, perimetry, fundus photography, Ishihara color testing, Schirmer II, PAM testing, BAT testing, stereopsis testing, A-scan biometry, applanation tonometry, minor surgery assist, pachymetry, OCT and basic contact lens evaluation
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Insures efficient working conditions of clinical equipment
- Keeps examination rooms clean, stocked and organized
- Maintains inventory of all clinical supplies
- If bilingual, translating for patients and physicians as necessary
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
