What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pat Svc Rep position at Geneva General Hospital?
The Patient Service Rep is responsible for obtaining patient demographics, insurance and financial information, and applicable co-pays and deductibles for all scheduled patients prior to the date of service. Responsibilities include entry of the data into the facility computer system as well as, coordinating with the patient and the collection of any outstanding information/co-payments on the date of service. Responsibilities will also include, although not limited to: 1. Verifying payer coverage of the services to be provided to the patient, pre-certify the service with the payer, and obtain any required pre-authorization(s), documenting all information related to acquisition of the certification/authorization, its source, limits and applicability. 2. Counseling patients on insurance and financial options as an integral part of the process of identifying any third party payer billable for the service. 3. Serving as a resource for patients prior to services. 4. Acting as a liaison to insurance companies, hospital departments and patients. The Patient Service Rep will be responsible for providing customer service excellence in a professional manner and will, ultimately, serve as the voice of Finger Lakes Health when interacting with the public on a daily basis.
na Requirements: EDUCATION: Minimum: • High school education with strong emphasis in business Preferred: • A.A.S. LICENSE: PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS: WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum: • Minimum 1 year previous related office (hospital or physician) billing experience required. • Experience to include familiarity of relevant third party billing regulations and ability to code ICD 9/ ICD10 diagnosis. • Experience dealing with patients in an effective and professional manner, typing 40-50 wpm, medical terminology, knowledge of CPT coding. SKILLS: Minimum: • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner. • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling. • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills. • Computer literacy Preferred: • Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record
