What are the responsibilities and job description for the Membership Associate position at Geneva Lakes Family YMCA?
Reports to: Membership Director
FLSA Status: Hourly, non-exempt | $11/hour
Approximately 15 hours per week. Looking for flexible availability for day and possible evening or weekend shifts if interested. Evening shifts are 4-8 pm; weekend shifts are 10am-2pm.
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides new and existing customers with excellent customer service and deliver accurate and current information about YMCA programs, sports and events. Must become very knowledgeable about and remain up-to-date on all YMCA programs, fees, schedules, facility amenities and the Y’s unique role in the community. Serve as a friendly, positive and enthusiastic advocate for the Y and build relationships with members and program participants. As prospective members and program participants inquire about the YMCA activities, this is the first and sometimes only person they will have contact with; it is a very important role in our organization and has direct bearing on customer satisfaction and retention. Every courtesy should be extended to our members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people, accurately at a fast pace and to simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
- Greet members and guests in a friendly, pleasant manner.
- Provide initial contact and give correct information regarding programs and fees, or refer them to the proper person.
- Register participants for YMCA classes and programs. Check in members.
- Cash handling and daily reconciliation of the cash drawer.
- Answer phones, take messages and be sure they get to the right person.
- Some filing and miscellaneous clerical work.
- Light cleaning responsibilities.
- Keep apprised of YMCA classes, fees, and changes in programs.
- Monitor the YMCA facilities and handle all questions and concerns in a courteous, professional manner.
- Take out garbage and recyclables, sweep/shovel the sidewalks and pick up debris as needed.
- Secure the building before you leave, including checking rooms, saunas, and locking doors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous cash handling experience.
- Knowledgeable computer skills.
- Obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification.
- Prior reception office experience helpful.
- Outgoing, self-motivated, dependable, friendly, and have a pleasant telephone manner.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
- Be a good problem solver, have the ability to follow directions, and to find answers.
- Must have commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics.
- Must be an articulate spokesperson on behalf of the YMCA.
- Minimum Age Requirement is 18
