We are looking to add an Accounts Receivable Specialist to our Finance Team. The Accounts Receivable Specialist is a member of the finance team and provides support that includes collection of outstanding debts owed to the organization by processing and applying payments timely, tracking overdue accounts, resolving missing and outstanding payment issues, and preparing reports.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Daily processing and reconciliation of incoming Accounts Receivable payments, including checks, ACH, and credit card transactions
- Ensure payments are posted timely and accurately to customer accounts.
- Identify past due accounts, and contact delinquent customers to request missing payments.
- Follow up with customers via phone call or email to resolve collection issues.
- Review and investigate short payments and deductions for appropriateness and accuracy.
- Understand payment terms and differences in the various customer payment profiles.
- Research customer discrepancies and customer complaints elevating complex issues to management as necessary.
- Maintain a positive attitude to foster strong customer relationships and minimize payment disputes.
- Send accurate customer account statements monthly or as requested.
- Create weekly/monthly management reporting on the status of customer accounts.
- Cross train and serve as backup to other finance team members.
- Participate in month end close activities, and other duties as assigned.
- 3 years’ experience in accounts receivable. (Within a manufacturing/distribution environment preferred)
- Understanding basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Proficient in Excel with a minimum intermediate level
- Experience with Sage preferred
- Ability to work with large data sets.
- High attention to detail, solid judgement and problem-solving skills
- A self-starter that is motivated to perform at a high level
- Comfortable working in a highly visible environment, completing time-sensitive tasks
- Impeccable discretion working with highly confidential information
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task, and prioritize management requests

DESIRED EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration preferred
