Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit equine welfare organization. Founded in 2005, we continue to lead the fight to end horse slaughter, abuse, and neglect.
With highly trained Animal Care Technicians, we are equipped to tackle the many needs of our equine friends. From canker and CPL treatments to the unique housing we provide for our blind horses, we do everything we can to provide the absolute best care possible to these gentle souls.
What You’ll Do:
In this role, you will be responsible creating learning objectives, selecting appropriate instructional strategies, and developing learning materials for multiple divisions of the organization, including our team of Animal Care Technicians, our Donor Relations Team, Maintenance, and more.
Daily Tasks:
- Design instructional materials using methods most appropriate for the audience
- Teach instructors the proper delivery of material
- Continually assess the effectiveness of trainings to ensure that staff have benefited from their training/continuing education and have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to advance to the next level of their position or to improve upon their current position.
- Create ongoing continuing education programs and opportunities in collaboration with the staff veterinarian, Director of Rescue Operations, Director of Growth, and Executive Director.
- Assist the Community Outreach team by adding or supporting educational materials or agendas into their outreach and volunteer programs.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to create curricula that clearly defines the goals of trainings and assessments such that educators are able to execute appropriate lesson plans and assessments.
- Ability to recognize where training is needed through the organization and receive feedback from educators about which areas of work/skills need training.
- Ability to adjust trainings and curricula to accommodate the needs and daily duties of the staff and to cover areas missed by previous training.
- Ability to coordinate with the organization educators to ensure lesson plans are followed and compliant with the written curriculum.
- Ability to provide educators with curricula in an appropriate time frame for teaching and assessment.
- Ability to assist in educating staff where applicable.
- Ability to synthesize unique programs across several departments.
- Ability to perform all the above skills independently and without supervision.
- Ability to work collaboratively with fellow staff and volunteers
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
