About the Company
Our client is a well-established 35-year-old construction company in New York City that has developed a proprietary, in-house software that is now a vital part of its operations. As the company continues to innovate, they are seeking a Product Owner to take full ownership of this software, optimize its usage internally, and develop an external licensing strategy to expand its impact across the construction industry.
Role Overview
The Product Owner will serve as the subject matter expert on the company’s proprietary software, acting as the key liaison between the home office, field teams, and overseas engineers. This role is responsible for defining product requirements, managing the product backlog, and ensuring the software meets the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the Product Owner will develop a strategic roadmap to drive internal adoption and establish the software as a revenue-generating product through external licensing.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Ownership & Strategy: Define and maintain the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry needs.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the bridge between field teams, the home office, and overseas engineers to align product functionality with real-world applications.
- Requirement Gathering & Backlog Management: Collect feedback, define product requirements, and prioritize features to enhance usability and effectiveness.
- Training & Internal Adoption: Develop and implement training programs to drive usage and ensure all employees understand the software’s value.
- Sales & Licensing Strategy: Create and execute a go-to-market plan for licensing the software to external construction firms, positioning it as an industry-leading product.
- Change Management: Drive internal enthusiasm and buy-in for the product, ensuring seamless adoption across all levels of the company.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze product performance, gather feedback from users, and collaborate with engineers for ongoing innovation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven Product Ownership Experience in the construction technology space.
- Subject Matter Expertise in construction software or technology solutions, with a deep understanding of field and office operations.
- Strong Communication & Leadership Skills to drive internal adoption and define external product positioning.
- Experience in Agile Development Processes, including backlog prioritization and sprint planning.
- Ability to Develop and Deliver Training Modules to internal teams for seamless product implementation.
- Strategic Business Development Experience to license the product to external firms, generating new revenue opportunities.
