YOUR ROLEAs a Middleware Engineer and IT team member, you’ll play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing Middleware technology solutions that are the foundation of the world class customer service that our customers expect and deserve – now and in the future.What you will be doingDesigning and managing highly available, scalable, secure, distributed web and middleware hosting solutionsAssist in managing all layers of web and application server infrastructure including load balancers, web and application serversImplementing changes and improvements to business services through a mix of application configuration and engineering activitiesTriage, prioritize, diagnose, resolve and perform root cause analysis for infrastructure issues related to Middleware technologyAct as an escalation point for production issuesIdentify issues, project business requirements and develop solutions for current and future projects and initiativesDocumenting application settings and configuration parameters necessary for middleware applications to perform reliably and efficientlyBenchmarking, tuning, and functional testing of middleware applications in support of upgrades and platform migrationsAssist project and application teams in design, scope, and project work estimationsAct as a liaison between application, datacenter, network and security teamsInteract with Manage Service Provider to delegate and direct technical workStay current with trends and incorporate emerging technology to the benefit of both on-premise and cloud solutionsKeep abreast of changing security requirements, configurations and guidelines (CIS, NIST)What you bringBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or related fieldA minimum of 5 years of experience with multiple relevant Middleware technologiesExpert working knowledge of Middleware support in a heterogeneous environment (Microsoft Windows and Red Hat linux)Hands-on experience with F5 BigIP or comparable load balancing technologiesStrong knowledge of authentication protocols including LDAP, OAuth and SAMLIn-depth knowledge of web technologies including Apache, IIS, Java, JBoss, Tomcat and WebSphere configuration and integrationA working knowledge of version control and software repository systems and tools such as GitHub and NexusKnowledge of automation tools (Ansible, Jenkins)Exposure to data streaming platforms (Kafka, MQ)Familiar with observability tools such as AppDynamics, ManageEngine and SplunkKnowledge of scripting tools (Bash, Python, Perl, Powershell or other advanced scripting tools)Able to read and translate technical release notes into project tasks and dependencies for upgrade and migration effortsExpert in technical concepts such as connection pooling, caching, encryption, transaction management, and threadingWillingness to travel for in-person meetings (quarterly) or on-site work (as required, infrequent)Employee Benefits & Well-BeingGenworth employees make a difference in people’s lives every day. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 10% of your base compensation. The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
