What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemical Operator position at GEO Specialty Chemicals?
SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining Operating Process Equipment in Glycine Area, the production of quality products on time and in a safe and environmentally sound manner, assisting maintenance, technical and other areas within the site as needed for permitting and functional support.
Work schedule is 12 hours days with a 48 and 36 hour work weeks within a pay period.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains Certification by performing duties routinely and completing Re-Certification every 3 years.
- Takes the lead resolving problems, both people and equipment problems.
- Work with peer Operator to insure unit operates as designed and meets customer demand.
- Minor maintenance, cleaning equipment, sampling, charging Carbon Beds, changing filters, operates and clean centrifuges and line breaking.
- Personally carries out and provides on-shift support of company policies and programs.
- Produce Quality Product per customer specs
- Support positive employee relations and communications.
- Support overall plant objectives by accepting assignment and working with plant peers.
- Run Lab Test on process samples
- Attend monthly safety meetings
- Write and update procedures in area(s) of certification
- Complete assigned task list (ex. Monthly Inspection of Rescue 6)
- Maintain certification any other equipment requirements in area(s) of certification (ex. Forklifts)
- Other duties or special projects may be assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
In house experience with finished products and nomenclature or external experience as a chemical operator. Ability to interact with employees and management at all levels of the organization and excellent follow-through behavior, high level of accuracy, strong team player, detail-oriented, and problem solving are essential. Mechanical ability and knowledge of pumps, valves and controls systems is desirable. Some formal education in a related technical field is a plus.

Certified in Glycine Area
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
All GEO Specialty Chemicals, Inc. personnel are required to comply with and participate in all Corporate Safety Training Programs and any site-specific safety training, policies, rules and regulations.
All GEO Specialty Chemicals, Inc. employees are required to undergo pre-employment physicals and drug testing, as well as respiratory fit testing. Other site-specific testing may be required.
