George Fox University's Portland Seminary is seeking adjunct instructors to establish a pool of well-qualified individuals to support our growing programs. These part-time, as-needed teaching opportunities cover a variety of subjects in theological education.

George Fox University, a Christ-centered institution, invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty positions across various academic disciplines within Portland Seminary. Adjunct faculty play a crucial role in delivering high-quality instruction while fostering student engagement in a supportive Christian learning environment. Teaching opportunities may be available in undergraduate and graduate programs and vary by department and semester.


Job Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:

  • Teaching courses in alignment with the university's mission and learning objectives.
  • Developing and implementing effective instructional strategies that promote student engagement.
  • Providing timely and constructive feedback on student work.
  • Maintaining accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
  • Utilizing the university's learning management system (Canvas) for course management.
  • Maintaining professionalism and adhering to university policies.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.


We Are Looking for Candidates Who Have:

  • A relevant terminal degree.
  • Relevant ministry experience.
  • Proficiency with Canvas Content Management System, Zoom, and Google Suite preferred
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States. This position does not offer visa sponsorship; therefore, only applicants who do not require sponsorship for employment visas, now or at any point in the future, should apply.
  • Residence in the state of Oregon or Washington.
  • A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity.
  • A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, political views, and expressions of Christian faith.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

  • Compensation: Adjunct faculty are paid on a per credit hour basis, commensurate with education and experience.
