About the Position:
The George Mason University Foundation Inc. invites qualified candidates to apply for a part-time Accounts Payable Assistant position.
This part-time position, typically 20-24 hours per week, provides accounting and clerical support to the Foundation's Associate Director of Accounts Payable, Assistant Controller, AP Team, Controller, and the remaining members of the Foundation Business Office as needed.
This position will primarily process activity within the Foundation's corporate credit card system and also provide assistance to the Associate Director of Accounts Payable. These tasks may include review of documentation related to credit card charges, processing of credit card transactions within Bank of America Works, preparation and/or assistance with the monthly credit card reconciliation, preparations of expense vouchers, and organizing and filing related materials. In addition, this position will complete special assignments as requested by the Controller or CFO.
Schedule: Mon - Fri, hours can be agreed upon, but must be consistent (approx. 20-24 hrs/week)
Position will start in person and may have the opportunity to do some telework depending on the projects at hand.
Responsibilities:
- Process activity within the Foundation's corporate credit card system and provide aid to the Associate Director of Accounts Payable;
- Review documentation related to credit card charges;
- Process credit card transactions within Bank of America Works;
- Assist with and/or prepare monthly credit card reconciliation;
- Prepare expense vouchers, and organizing and filing related materials;
- In addition, special assignments as requested by the Controller or CFO; and
- Assist Foundation Business Office staff as needed with various projects and reports as needed for BOT, Central Advancement and Units.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in the business field or combination of equivalent education and work experience;
- Must be independent, self-motivated, and able to work independently;
- Previous work experience in a financial environment (specifically a not-for-profit or university setting) is essential;
- Demonstrated general accounting and administrative experience;
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel, accounting databases and fundraising databases in the completion of tasks;
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities; and
- Must be organized and able to manage overlapping tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of financial reconciliation and familiarity with accounts payable is beneficial; and
- Knowledge of Abila, MIP, Banner, or Salesforce is a plus.
