About The Department
Our faculty aspires to contribute to the health of all populations through innovative and impactful education, research, practice, and service. The School currently enrolls over 700 students, with baccalaureate and Master’s programs (in-seat and online) and both a Doctoral of Nursing Practice (DNP) program that includes advanced practice nursing concentrations in family practice, psychiatric mental health, and adult-gerontology, as well as administration and a Ph.D. in Nursing program. BSN, MSN, and DNP degrees in nursing at George Mason University are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. About The Position
The School of Nursing - Assistant/Associate Professor serves as teaching-intensive faculty across nursing school curricula, depending upon the area of their expertise and the needs of the school. Priority consideration is given to individuals with background or experience in Maternal Child and/or OB practice and/or education The School of Nursing - Assistant/Associate Professor also serves on faculty committees and participates in faculty and student enrichment programs and activities for program evaluation and external accreditation.

Responsibilities
- Teaches clinical and non-clinical courses across School of Nursing curriculum, consistent with general and/or specialized nursing background/expertise;
- Engages in professional and academic service that advances the priority goals of the program, School of Nursing and College of Public Health; and
- Participates in faculty governance.
- Terminal degree in Nursing (DNP or PhD) or health-related field earned before employment date;
- Experience teaching in higher education;
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated organizational skills;
- Ability to work in a team-based environment;
- Ability to teach at college level; and
- Be an unencumbered Virginia Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License, or have eligibility to obtain upon employment.
- Experience with distance learning in an online environment;
- Familiarity with nursing accreditation standards for prelicensure BSN programs; and
- Considerable experience as medical-surgical nurse or maternal/child nurse.
