There is an open position in the Georgetown Public Schools.POSITION: Band Director/Instrumental Music Teacher (Middle/High classes)LOCATION: Georgetown High SchoolSUPERVISOR: PrincipalANNUAL SALARY: Salary and benefits per Georgetown Education Association contract.START DATE: immediatelyWORK YEAR: 184 days, the school year & professional development daysJOB DESCRIPTION: Administer the instrumental music program for grades 7-12 (same building).Direct 7th grade and 8th grade, and high school bands, and teach high school music electives.This is an active program with high enrollment/student interest and strong tradition of community support.Stipend supplement for band/marching band, jazz band, pit orchestra.IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate should: Be energetic, motivated individual to work with collaboratively with the grade level team members.Have a strong background in the content area Ability to motivate studentsWilling to conduct concerts, coordinate performances and competitionsAble to lead performances in parades and at home football gamesAble to work cooperatively with other music teachers at the elementary schools and with the choral teacher at the Middle/High SchoolBe passionate and enthusiastic educator who can motivate students to discover their creative potential.QUALIFICATIONSAbility to successfully collaborate with colleagues.Able to complete required paperwork in a timely fashionEffective communication, organizational and interpersonal skillsAbility to motivate studentsWilling to conduct concerts, coordinate performances and competitionsAble to lead performances in parades and at home football gamesAble to work cooperatively with other music teachers at the elementary schools and with the choral teacher at the Middle/High SchoolStrong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are a must.SALARY & BENEFITSPer agreement between the Georgetown School Committee and Georgetown Education Association.Eligible for health insuranceContractual sick days and personal daysJOB REQUIREMENTSBachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferredHolds a current license as a K-12 Music TeacherKnowledge of curriculum frameworksAble to assess student performance and report progressAble to use a variety of instructional techniques to address student needs & differentiate instructionMiddle & High School music teaching experience preferredCitizenship, residency or work VISA in the United States required
