Student Outreach and Support (SOS) works with colleagues across campus to organize outreach and follow-up care to students who are experiencing crisis or distress that impacts their social, personal, and / or academic stability. The Assistant Director and MLOA Coordinator is part of the Office of Student Outreach and Support, reports directly to the Director of Student Outreach, and Support and has duties that include but are not limited to :
- Support the effort of SOS in the University's management of high-impact, complex students of concern, defined as those who (1) threaten or attempt to cause harm to themselves, (2) experience significant disruption to a normal course of academic study due to the presence of psychiatric, behavioral, and / or mental-health related issues, and / or (3) present with behavior that may be worrisome to others and disruptive to University business or community stability.
- Provide case management services to students whose disruption to academic progress is caused by a broad range of difficulties that may, at any point, rise to higher levels of concern.
- Support students through the Medical Leave of Absence (MLOA) process, providing guidance on MLOA exit and return requirements.
- In collaboration with the Associate Director, update processes and documents related to the MLOA process consistently and share with campus partners as needed, managing and regularly updating the MLOA website and documents.
- Work closely with stakeholders within and outside of the Division of Student Affairs to ensure a coordinated approach for the MLOA process.
- Assist the Associate Director to support hospitalized students who wish to take a MLOA, including attending discharge meetings and coordinating with hospital social workers / case managers.
- Contribute to streamlining workflows and MLOA processes within the university system.
- Collaborate and partner with SOS staff to support students on MLOA and transition back to the university, developing structured support and / or programming to assist students' adjustment back to campus after MLOA.
- Partner with SOS staff to train campus partners on the process for reporting concerns to the Safety Net, supporting students of concern, and the MLOA process.
- Represent SOS on various University or Division working groups, committees, task forces, regular meetings, or other duties as assigned.

Pay Range :
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is :
47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
