Office Manager, Law Offices - Georgetown University Law Center

A pioneer in clinical legal education, Georgetown Law has the largest, strongest, and most highly regarded in-house clinical program in the nation.

Job Overview

The Office Manager serves as the primary administrative point of contact for multiple experiential programs - where law students, faculty, and fellows represent real clients in ongoing litigation, policy, and/or transactional matters. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of multiple law offices, they ensure that our clinics comply with University policies by serving as a liaison between individual clinic personnel and the relevant departments across the University. The Office Manager proactively support the clinics by identifying issues and (where appropriate), using professional judgment to resolve them or escalate to clinic directors.

The Office Manager is a primary point of contact for external stakeholders, fields and directs inquiries from outside the law school, and has a critical role in supporting the substantive work of the clinics in a role that is similar to a paralegal.

The Office Manager supports three programs:
Health Justice Alliance Law Clinic : a legal clinic where students provide direct legal representation to patients at community-based health clinics that serve children and families in a variety of areas of poverty law, such as education, housing, and access to public benefits and health insurance.
Racial Equity in Education Law and Policy Clinic : Georgetown Law's newest clinic in which student engage in policy and legislative advocacy on behalf of nonprofit organizations to advance racial equity in education in the District of Columbia and nationally.
Street Law : a experiential practicum program in which law students teach a semester-long elective course in practical law to students in public and charter high schools throughout the District of Columbia or to juvenile and adult learners who are under court order probation, or who are in rehabilitation facilities or transitional housing.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Directors of the Health Justice Alliance Law Clinic, Racial Equity in Education Law and Policy Clinic, and Street Law, the Office Manager has significant contact with clinic faculty, fellows, and students - as well as other Georgetown offices. They also coordinate closely with other Office Managers and the clinical program's central administrative team (including the Assistant Dean, Director, and Program Coordinator); and regularly interact with current and prospective clients, court or agency officials, prospective fellows, and the public.

Qualifications

B.A. or B.S. or the equivalent combination of experience and education
Familiar with Microsoft Office - including Word, Excel, and Adobe
Commitment to and ability to learn new programs or systems (such as Canvas, Legal Server, and Workday/Georgetown Management Systems (GMS).
Experience with Google Suite and working in a remote or hybrid environment is also helpful.
Highly organized and ability to manage multiple tasks - working both independently and as part of a team to complete assignments for various stakeholders

The Office Manager role is especially well suited for candidates interested in the law or the role of legal clinics to advance social justice. Experience working in a legal office is preferred , but not required.

Work Mode: Hybrid (2 Days on Campus, 3 days telework). Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
