This is a sensitive government position .

The GBI will follow State Personnel Board Rules for current state employees.

Job Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Under supervision, provides support to federal, state, and local non-criminal justice and criminal justice agencies, private businesses and the public relating to non-criminal justice information.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Maintains security and privacy of information found in databases.
  • Monitors use of data files and regulate access to safeguard information in computer files.
  • Assists in the performance of risk assessments and analysis to identify areas of risk and develop security measures and controls of mitigation.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of IT system security plans, projects, and initiatives.
  • Assists in the planning, implementation, and coordinating of security measures and controls for information systems to regulate access to computer data and prevent unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure of information.
  • Create reports on status of agency information security programs and projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

The incumbent will occasionally be required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. Occasionally light lifting / or moving supplies may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

This position requires the incumbent to work in an office setting which includes shared office space with other professionals.

NOTE : This position may require some travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

CJIS Analyst 1; Pay Grade : I

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR Three (3) years of experience at the lower-level Criminal Justice IS Spec 3 (ITT082) or position equivalent.

CJIS Analyst 2; Pay Grade : J :

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience at the lower-level Criminal Justice IS Analyst 1 (ITP210) or position equivalent.

CJIS Analyst 3; Pay Grade : K :

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience at the lower-level Criminal Justice IS Analyst 2 (ITP211) or position equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants with work experience in one or more of the following :

  • Laws, policies, and regulations related to the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS).
  • Knowledge of 92-544 Public Law.
  • Knowledge of the Georgia Applicant Processing Services (GAPS)
  • Knowledge of local City / County Ordinances.
