The graphic designer I at GCSU is a highly skilled graphic design position that creatively designs and formats publications and promotional materials for the purpose of recruiting students, enhancing the university image on state, national, and international levels, and assists on-campus clients in their efforts to market their respective colleges, departments and programs. This position ensures all GCSU collateral adheres to our visual identity manual and meets current branding standards.

Graphic Design - 75
Prepares a variety of skilled graphic design and layout work in preparation of various posters, exhibits, advertisements, brochures, media guides, newsletters, internal forms, signs, and flyers using various production techniques which include computer graphic systems and software. Follows the visual identity and style guide of the university as it pertains to these materials.

Coordinating - 15
Will meet with GCSU clients to discuss various design projects and specifications such as media specifications, graphic content, layouts, paper stock, etc. needed to complete each project. Will suggest design solutions to meet each clients goals based on product availability within Creative Services.

Maintenance - 5
Maintains various graphic design software, file storage devices, and associated computer equipment including Macintosh computers. Assists in maintenance of on-site equipment including production and wide-format printers.

Other - 5
Performs other duties as assigned, which can include equipment operation (digital presses, cutter, etc.), delivery of materials, or other related tasks.

Educational Requirements
Bachelors degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Mass Communication or similar field.

Required Experience
One year of experience in an area related to creative design or print medium development and/or production; or an equivalent combination or prior experience, training, and/or education.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Associates degree or higher is preferred, but not required.

Preferred Experience
At least 3 years of related experience in a customer service, clerical, or support role. Prior experience with graphic design and/or printing operations are a plus.

ABILITIES
The ability to lift up to 40 - 50 lbs. is required.
The ability to independently operate computer equipment and learn and utilize software programs is required.
Ability to follow instructions and prioritize workload to meet deadlines. The ability to be versatile and troubleshoot as needed

KNOWLEDGE
Considerable knowledge of graphic design software including the Adobe Creative Suite. Excellent understanding of layout, typography, and composition principles

SKILLS
Strong organizational skills required. Strong communication skills required.
