Job Summary

The Department of Information Systems & Computer Science in the College of Business & Technology at Georgia College & State University seeks applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Management Information Systems (MIS) beginning Fall 2025. To meet the academic and instructional needs of students in the core business curriculum as well as those majoring in MIS offered by the department. Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Management Information Systems, including but not limited to: Principles of MIS, Big Data, Project Management, and Analytics.

Responsibilities

Teaching - 85
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Management Information Systems, including but not limited to: Principles of MIS, Big Data, and analytics.

Maintain a teaching load of 4 courses per semester

Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students

Regular course meetings and instruction
  • Class preparation and grading
  • Other duties related to teaching as required

Professional Development Activities - 10
Faculty members are expected to remain intellectually active and maintain currency in their discipline through professional development activities.
Participate in professional development activities to stay current with industry trends.

Participation in professional meetings
  • Membership and participation in profess

Service - 5
Faculty are expected to demonstrate service that directly impacts the quality of education provided to students and is related to a faculty member's primary teaching duties.

Participate in curriculum development and assessment

Engage in departmental and college service activities

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related field from an accredited institution.

A minimum of at least 18 semester graduate credit hours within the teaching discipline of computer science is required. A doctorate in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred.

Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))

Required Experience
Teaching experience at the college level

Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching and student engagement

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Experience with current business technology and information systems

Commitment to student success and active learning pedagogies

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience in analytics or project management a plus. Evidence of methodological innovation and
creative teaching strategies is highly desirable.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
A doctorate is preferred. A master's degree is required.

Preferred Experience
Experience working in the computer science, data science, or information systems field. Successful higher education teaching experience. Knowledge of additional programming languages.

Ability to work collegially with others in service to the University.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and ability to convey current practices and theories related to computer science.

SKILLS
Candidates must be able to teach computer science classes at a college level.
