Job Summary
Primary responsibilities will be teaching undergraduate chemistry courses for majors and non-majors. The limited-term chemistry lecturer will teach 15 contact hours in chemistry courses, including Principle of Chemistry I & Lab, Principle of Chemistry II & Lab, Studio Labs, Integrated Sciences, and any assigned courses in the candidate's area of expertise (organic, biochemistry, physical, analytical, and forensic chemistry).
This is a one-year appointment.
Responsibilities
- Full-time instructional load teaching (5 courses) in areas of expertise within the academic discipline
- Regular course meetings and instruction

- Other teaching responsibilities
Knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.
Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

Limited term faculty are expected to stay current in their field.
Faculty - Service to Institution -
All faculty are expected to help the department in recruiting majors. Faculty members are expected to attend Department meetings and events.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree in Organic, Biochemistry, Analytical, Inorganic, or Physical Chemistry or Chemistry Science Education.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements as stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)).
Required Experience
Teaching experience in general, organic, biochemistry, analytical, inorganic, forensic chemistry, or chemical science education.
Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Organic, Biochemistry, Analytical, Inorganic, or Physical Chemistry or Chemistry Science Education.

Ability to effectively teach a wide range of general, organic and related courses to chemistry majors and non-majors.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of chemical science, laboratory safety, chemical inventory, laboratory records keeping.
Knowledge of modern classroom technology pedagogy, and well-developed communication skills.
Knowledge of student learning with instructional methods that address a variety of learning styles.
