Summary
This Chief Development Officer (CDO), which is part of Executive Leadership Team for InCommunity, has overall responsibility for the organization’s Development programs, including setting the strategic direction for the programs, developing goals and incremental milestones to achieve the overarching strategic objectives of the programs, expanding and strengthening donor relationships and ensuring compliance with respect to all applicable policies, procedures and regulations related to development activities. This role also has managerial responsibility for certain roles within the Development department.
Essential Functions

Reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and oversees the organization’s development, fundraising, grant writing, and community relations and volunteer engagement functions.

Participates in the development and the implementation of the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Responsible for the development of the strategic plan/framework for the organization and ensures the organization is on track to meet its goals by developing a tracking system and communicating status to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

Works closely with the CFO, Chief Programs Officer, and other members of the Executive Leadership Team to develop fundraising targets and identify grant opportunities to support the operational needs of the organization.

Provides oversight to the organization’s grant writing team and ensures that grant proposals are aligned with the organization’s needs and contain accurate and updated information about the organization.

Responsible for organizing events, where the primary focus is increasing/enhancing reputational awareness of the organization or fundraising, including Golden Goals, donor appreciation events and fundraising benefits (e.g., Are you IN?).

Develops a volunteer and community outreach program, which provides opportunities for meaningful engagement with the mission of the organization and supports the needs and goals of the organization.

Partners with the Communications team on the creation of content and publication strategies for donor newsletters, social media posts, quarterly fundraising campaigns, and other, similar communications.

Responsible for creating strategies to increase InCommunity’s development-related revenue, year-over-year, to meet the strategic goals of the organization and to support the organization’s long-range planning.

Ensures that the organization’s donor support database is appropriately maintained and updated and that required development-related reports (including donor tax letters and the organization’s annual fundraising report) are accurately and timely generated.

Provides performance management and professional development coaching to direct reports and partners with the Human Resources team and the CEO on succession planning for members of the Development Team, including the Chief Development Officer.

Works closely with CEO and Communications team on the marketing, promotional materials, communications and branding strategy.

Participates in short-term and long-range strategic planning for InCommunity.

Cultivates relationship with key stakeholders for purposes of improving the organization’s reputation within the communities where it operates and increasing donor support.

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Ten plus years in creating and overseeing development programs that generate $1M in revenue per year, with a preference for doing so in the metropolitan Atlanta geographic area. Experienced in strategy formulation, business planning and development, with proven ability to work with cross-functional teams.
