What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL A/Day Delivery Driver with Box Truck Experience-Alabaster Alabama position at Georgia Crown Distributing Co.?
Responsibilities :
Must be flexible as the start time will be determined by day of the week, destination and accounts delivery appointment time. Will need to work until the days task are completed. There is no definite quitting time and must be able to work overtime when needed (while complying with FMCSA hours of service regulations).
- Must be able to drive a stick shift tractor and have box truck driving experience.
- Must be able to maintain a valid CDL / A Driver's license and DOT Medical Card
- May need to run a non CDL route and complete deliveries to pre-assigned customers. Please note routes are subject to change.
- Run product to and from the main warehouse and the annex location
- Must be available to assist other drivers or perform additional deliveries when required.
- Conduct pre / post trip inspections and properly log any defects
- Apply proper safety techniques while climbing in / out of box truck and loading / unloading cases of product (with and / or without ramp) from the back of the delivery truck.
- Down stack load throughout the day always utilizing load bar and secure vehicle
- Drivers are expected to observe all federal and state traffic laws and drive with caution to avoid causing breakage and shifting merchandise.
- Verify accurate product is delivered to the appropriate recipient
- Verify accurate funds and signatures are received at the time of delivery (drivers will not accept cash)
- Must provide outstanding customer service and maintain professional business relationships with customers
- Communicate with dispatch and supervisors to provide delivery status information and if any issues arise
- Position will require heavy lifting, carrying cases of product alone and with the aid of a hand truck
- Must be able to lift cases weighing up to 50lbs. repetitively.
- Must be able to handle beer kegs weighing up to 150lbs using the equipment provided (i.e. liftgate, ramp, hand truck, etc.)
- Position will require sitting, standing, driving, walking, carrying, pushing / pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching.
- Drivers will need to deliver in all weather conditions unless deemed unsafe by company management.
- Must be flexible on work times, start and end times will vary due to delivery needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must have at least 1 year prior delivery / driving experience with box truck or larger type vehicle
- Must have 1 year continuous experience driving a stick shift tractor trailer either over the road or local
- High School Diploma / GED required
- Must be able to read, write and use basic math skills to interpret and calculate changes to invoices.
- Must have and be able to maintain valid DOT Medical Certification
- Must have and be able to maintain valid CDL A Driver's License
- Must have ability to work varied / flex hours, no definite quit time.
- Must have experience / knowledge of how to properly use electronic logging devices as well as completing daily pre / post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Must be able to pass background check (i.e. police backgrounds, reference checks...).
- Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record :
- Cannot have more than two (2) : moving violations and / or at-fault vehicle accidents (any combination) in the past three (3) years (for speeding, violations must be under 16mph)
- Cannot have more than one (1) : speeding violation of 16-29mph OR at-fault accident in the past three (3) years
- Cannot have a major violation such as : DUI / DWI, hit-and-run, reckless driving, and / or super speeder (29 mph) violation in the past five (5) years
