The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) is seeking candidates for the position of Social Services Specialist 1 (Rapid Response Unit). The Rapid Response Unit will provide investigative and comprehensive case management for all 12 counties in Region 4. This unit is specifically designed to travel throughout Region 4 and assist in special investigations and crisis stabilization in the 12 counties. These positions have a designated special entry salary that is non-negotiable.Bachelor’s degree special entry salary is $47,083.51Master’s degree in a behavioral science special entry salary is $50,763.86Differential Shift Pay is offered for 2nd shiftsPay Grade: IUnder supervision, learns to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for a caseload involving child abuse or neglect.Job ResponsibilitiesAccesses and records client and community resource informationAssists in collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing necessary reports according to rules and regulations, state and federal lawsAssists in identifying placement resources for children within the foster care systemCompiles records and prepares reports; performs follow-up to determine the status of client's caseConducts home-visit evaluations for information gathering to be used in assessmentsCoordinates and monitors children in out-of-home placements and in-home interventionsLearns to perform initial investigations of protective services referrals in determining the appropriateness of protective services interventionLearns to work in collaboration with legal system to ensure safety and achieve desired outcomesMaintains required documentation and completes reports
