What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Digital Media Laboratories position at Georgia Highlands College?
This position supervises operations of the digital media laboratories with activities relating to safety; development and instruction of digital media productions, procedures, and processes; producing digital media; equipment and inventory maintenance; and records maintenance. This role can spend up to half of their working time instructing courses.
- Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies.
- Oversees and manages daily operation of laboratory facilities in a safe, clean and organized manner
- Instructs and advises digital media lab users on proper use of digital media equipment, on-set safety, protocols and procedures related to digital media production
- Instructs courses as credentials allow
- Oversees scheduling of productions and digital media lab usage
- Maintains inventory of equipment; recommends purchase of supplies and equipment; maintains related records
- Develops and implements production policies and procedures; incorporates industry best practices
- Oversees maintenance of digital media equipment
- Oversees use and storage of digital media equipment
- Plans and directs work of student employees in digital media
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in communication or media field with six (6) or more years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred Educational Qualifications: Master's degree
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
The salary for this position is $50,000/year
This is a fully benefited position
This position has direct supervision for student employees working in the Media Innovation Center and digital media laboratories.

- Knowledge of specific course content for assigned teaching duties
- Knowledge of project management approaches and tools, project planning, and timelines
- Skills in communication, customer service, supervision, and instruction
- Ability to work with complex digital media equipment and computer programs used in production and post-production
- Ability to provide effective leadership in productions
