Created in 1933, the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) is the only state organization that represents municipal governments in Georgia. Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and technical consulting services to its members.
The Administrative Technician plays a vital role in supporting the Finance & Accounting Department by providing comprehensive administrative and clerical assistance. This position is responsible for processing payments and deposits, managing records, coordinating departmental meetings, and assisting with internal and external inquiries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative & Clerical Support:
- Provide full administrative support to the Finance & Accounting Department.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings for the Finance & Accounting Department as requested by the CFO and Accounting Director.
- Maintain office supplies and process purchase orders as needed.
Financial & Record Management:
- Sort and prepare daily payments for scanning and processing by the Accounts Receivable Specialist.
- File and maintain financial records for monthly financial statement preparation.
- Assist with financial audits and billing-related tasks, including tracking and following up on invoices.
- Distribute monthly financial statements for all funds.
Customer & Internal Communication:
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders professionally and efficiently.
- Prepare mail merges for external communications and assist with document preparation for mailings.
- Distribute documents electronically and manage the electronic document storage system.
- Sort, collect, and deliver mail to the Finance & Accounting staff daily.
Cross-Functional Support:
- Provide coverage for Billing Specialist as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Technical & Administrative Competencies:
- Strong understanding of office administration, bookkeeping, and financial processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with database management systems.
- Knowledge of Georgia Municipal Association policies and procedures is preferred.
Interpersonal & Organizational Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
- Vocational training in bookkeeping and financial accounting is a plus.
- At least one year of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or administrative support.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Salary : $45,000 - $55,000
