Plant Yates Maintenance Specialist Sr.

Summary Of Position Duties

This position will be accountable for all maintenance & support activities associated with Maintenance Specialist Sr./System Owner duties. These include technical support; outage planning/scheduling and coordination; routine maintenance planning; project management and coordination; outage and baseline budget tracking; as well as capital project management, planning, execution, and budget tracking.

This position will be primarily focused on ownership and execution of the site Condition Based Maintenance Program with additional responsibilities of electrical system maintenance and improvements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Development and execution of maintenance strategies for owned system(s).
  • Focus areas of responsibilities in this role include ownership of the following:
  • Monitor maintenance strategy via preventative maintenance tracking as well as documentation of equipment failures and maintenance strategy deviations.
  • Effectively utilize the work order management system by communicating system needs though the prioritization of work orders, providing detail work scopes, coordination, and execution of the weekly work plan.
  • Support and review Root Cause Analyses of equipment & system issues.
  • Support implementation of Southern Company initiatives and fleet standards in the maintenance processes and equipment applications.
  • Responsible for tracking and providing input to budget development and monthly projections regarding contractor labor, services, material, parts, and equipment needs while efficiently managing costs associated with these resources.
  • Daily utilization of relevant computer applications to monitor work order progress, parts status, and labor utilization. Examples of these tools include but are not limited to the following: Maximo, Tableau, Oracle Cloud, OIS, Word, Safe TK, & Excel.
  • Responsible for developing, planning, scheduling, and executing outage work scope plans for forced, planned, and maintenance outages.
  • Execute major maintenance or replacement activities by providing specific technical direction and coordination of assigned maintenance crews and/or contractor personnel while monitoring quality, cost, and adherence to contract specifications as well as equipment specs and maintenance procedures.
  • Analyze critical situations on owned equipment to determine competent solutions to identified problems and a resolution to them.
  • Consistent demonstration of strong technical aptitude and self-directed decision-making capability regarding plant equipment.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to maintenance personnel including OEM specs, manuals, and procedures to accomplish work on owned system equipment.
  • Support the Best Practices Program by developing and implementing industry and generating fleet best practices in a timely manner.
  • Establish a working relationship with key vendors and SCS personnel; gather and analyze acceptance data on new/rebuilt equipment and stay informed of current technology.
  • Effective communication skills and people skills to foster effective working relationships with personnel from all departments.
  • Contract Administration execution.
  • CBM program maintenance and improvements for oil analysis, vibration monitoring & assessment, thermography monitoring, motor testing, and other CBM related activities.
  • Electrical systems improvements, project management, and ownership

Job Requirements

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements:

  • Must possess minimum of 3 years of experience in the Operating and/or Maintenance Department of an Electric Generating Plant.
  • Electrical troubleshooting & maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Condition Maintenance Program experience is preferred.
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of the operation and maintenance of plant equipment and systems to provide solutions to equipment problems that are cost effective and adequate to meet plant needs.
  • Must possess the ability to analyze critical situations; determine competent solutions and be capable of implementing strategic plans in a safe and effective manner.
  • Must possess the ability to work with people across multiple departments to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Must possess effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Must possess the ability to make critical decisions regarding plant equipment and resources while balancing financial constraints and equipment availability needs.
  • Working knowledge of Maximo & Oracle are strongly preferred.
  • Resource planning experience preferred but not required.
  • Operation and/or Maintenance of fossil plant equipment is preferred.
  • Previous system ownership, planning, and budgeting experience are a preferred but not required.
  • Contractor, GPC resource coordination, or system ownership experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of application systems including Maximo, Tableau, OIS, CIMS, Microsoft Office applications, & Safe TK are preferred.
  • Experience working on Power Generation specific equipment or equivalent industrial equipment with skills, knowledge, or a strong understanding of the processes & procedures of the following disciplines is strongly preferred:
  • Lubrication compatibility
  • Machine alignment
  • Pump operation & maintenance for Multi-Staged Centrifugal & Vertical Pumps
  • Electrical Systems
