Description: The specialist is responsible for the coordination, development, monitoring, and completion of
project initiatives associated with the assigned area.
Major Duties:
- Assists the Vice President of Economic Development in coordinating the Office of Economic Development priorities and activities
- Maintains excellent working relationships with and serves as a liaison to internal and external customers
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills in dealing with the public
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Serve as liaison to other college departments including but not limited to marketing and business office
- Serve as proctor for exams scheduled in the testing center
- Serve as American Heart Association Coordinator for college
- Assist with office clerical duties and reports
- Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Economic Development
Competencies:
• Skill in the use of computers and job-related software including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Skill in planning and organizing projects
• Skill in oral and written communication
• Skill in interpersonal relations and effective problem-solving methods
• Skill in analyzing data and situations for accurate assessment
• Knowledge of the college philosophy and objectives as they relate to performance
• Knowledge of personnel management practices, budget and accounting practices, assessment and accreditation principles, and issues and trends in higher education
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision

- Valid State Driving License

Monetary Transactions: This position will perform monetary transactions, such as receiving cash, check, and credit card payments. Position will require a credit check.
Physical Demands:
· The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight.
· Work is typically performed with the employee sitting at a desk in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings.
· The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
· Full range of hand and finger motion is utilized for data entry purposes.
Travel Requirements: Some travel to peer groups or other training/conferences along with various travel locations for the position
Training Requirements: The employee understands and agrees to complete all required training, including those mandated by the State of Georgia Governor, by stated deadlines as a condition of employment.
Minimum Requirements:
• Associate’s degree *and* Three (3) years of related work experience
• Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis
