Job Description

The Aerospace, Transportation & Advanced Systems Laboratory (ATAS) of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking a Junior Collaborative Autonomy Intern Student for the Summer 2025 semester. We are looking for strong candidates that have extensive manned and unmanned flight operations and test and evaluation experience, a strong engineering background, and problem-solving skills. The candidate would have knowledge in one of the following:

  • Aircraft design and/or prototyping experience
  • Aircraft integration experience
  • Aircraft maintenance experience
  • Manned aircraft operations
  • Unmanned aircraft operations
  • Unmanned flight test experience

Required Minimum Qualifications

Intern

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Robotics, or related field.
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Full-Time Intern- Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in flight test of unmanned aerial vehicles is a plus.
  • Proven research or project experience in at least one of these areas is desirable:
  • Flight test safety
  • Integration of air vehicle systems
  • Unmanned air vehicle mission planning
  • FAA Licensed Private Pilot
  • FAA Licensed Remote Pilot
  • Ardupilot Mission Planner experience
  • Task / team leadership experience

40 hours per week

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
