Job Summary

Plan and coordinate the assigned department capital projects to ensure they are completed according to assigned unit standards, contract specifications and schedule. Direct and coordinate the engineering, design and construction or alteration of existing structures. This role will coordinate and lead logistics and access plan for low-complexity construction projects, as well as maintaining accurate construction records within a project management system. This role will manage the assigned unit's lifecycle replacement plan for flooring, paint, and lighting within assigned buildings. Collaborate with unit leadership to advance the unit master plan.

This position will interact on a consistent basis with : Assigned Department Staff, Infrastructure and Sustainability Partners, and contractors

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Participate in planning exercises for assigned units capital investment projects. Provide assessments for Major Rehabilitation and Repair (MRR) program, as needed to maintain the building space & systems. In collaboration with unit leadership, define, review, and prioritize

assigned units' capital project requests

Job Duty 9 -

Oversee unit's lifecycle replacement schedule for flooring, paint, and lighting in assigned buildings

Job Duty 10 -

Perform other related job duties assigned

Job Duty 2 -

Compile and maintain project schedule and milestones for projects from concept stage, through design and construction, to final punch completion. Track and communicate project updates and impacts. Advance coordination of projects with unit leaders, stakeholders, and campus partners

Job Duty 3 -

Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, Institute partners and unit leaders and stakeholders in the execution of assigned projects

Job Duty 4 -

Develop Scope of Work (SOW) and conduct pre-construction meetings; meet with and review project requirements with contractor representatives; review estimates / proposal, finalize quotes & issue purchase orders

Job Duty 5 -

Review all elements of assigned projects scope and plans to ensure they are effectively defined and in alignment with project objectives. Provide supervision for assigned projects and monitor their compliance and schedule

Job Duty 6 -

Conduct periodic inspections of construction projects to ensure work is performed to expected standards and contract requirements. Report on contractor performance

Job Duty 7 -

Coordinate with assigned units and Institute partners to initiate projects and coordinate as appropriate with information technology; furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE) moves and installations; office relocations; utility shutdown, etc.

Job Duty 8 -

Partner with and assist Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) personnel with room inspections. Coordinate repairs and remediation work with facilities teams and contractors per the recommendation of EH&S.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Certifications, Licenses or Permits :

Current, valid, and unrestricted Georgia Driver's License

Required Experience

Four to six years of job-related experience. The ideal candidate should have four to six years of relevant work experience. Possess the ability to read and comprehend construction drawings, mechanical systems, project manuals, and project submittals. Be capable of handling multiple tasks or projects simultaneously while meeting the assigned deadlines. Experience managing small-to-medium scale renovation projects, project negotiation, and project scheduling is also required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience

Preferred working experience includes familiarity with the request for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotes (RFQs), experience managing contracts, experience writing Statement of Works (SOW), and experience with the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Program, and Sustainability programs.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasionally outside of standard business hours.

Experience with procuring quotes from state-approved vendors for furniture and related materials.

Assist with data input of quotes (Workday), work orders (TMA), and budget tracking

Willingness to travel within the Metro Atlanta area and to the Cobb / Marietta campuses, with occasional travel to out-of-state field office locations for short durations.

Experience escorting vendors and installers into secure spaces.

Strong background in collaborating with Interior Designers to coordinate furniture and interior design scopes in construction projects.

Proficient in managing and reviewing furniture help desk tickets and assigning them appropriately.

Experience coordinating electrical and data installations related to furniture requests.

Ability to manage tasks during installations, working closely with Interior Designers, customers, and building managers.

Knowledge of handling small-scale furniture requests, including inventory management and purchasing.

Strong interior design skills and the ability to contribute to project and departmental meetings, both in-person and virtually.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred degree in Interior Design or Architecture

Job-related experience in furniture specification and interior design / construction.

Strong knowledge of interior construction and abilities to research construction documents.

Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Office 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Etc.), WebEx, Procore

Highly proficient in AutoCAD and CET Configura (or similar furniture-based planning software) and working knowledge of Bluebeam, Smartsheet, and Adobe Suite.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

This position involves physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs, lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more, standing for extended periods, and working in construction environments. Additionally, there may be times when work is required outdoors.

SKILLS

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills

Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette with keen attention to detail and follow up skills
