GeoSpectrum is growing and has a new career opportunity for a Technical Procurement Lead to be the forefront of procurement for medium-sized projects and large multi-year programs!
As a Technical Procurement Lead, you will source and purchase specialized equipment, materials, and services for customer products. You'll develop a sustainable supplier base, conduct vendor assessments, and perform inspections to maintain quality standards. Your role involves assessing risks, preparing forecasts, optimizing costs, and collaborating with various departments to build strong supplier relationships. Additionally, you'll mentor team members, address discrepancies, and respond to customer inquiries, all while leveraging your technical expertise to support strategic procurement initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Lead procurement for medium-sized projects and large multi-year programs by obtaining quotes for specialized items, create purchase requests, generate and update purchase orders, and identify shortages and expedite as required.
- Manage procurement implications to ensure configuration management while dealing with engineering material and product change requests.
- Support strategic procurement for components through the development of a sustainable, competent, and cost-effective supplier base.
- Support Quality Assurance by conducting technical vendor assessments to understand their capabilities and capacity, and by finding new suppliers to meet our future needs.
- Use technical expertise, review drawings and BOMs to assess critical features in component and system design.
- Perform source inspections to ensure goods meet the required standards during the phases of manufacturing.
- Assess risks, prepare forecasts and scenarios for project suppliers, create reports, and recommend ways to continuously improve.
- Leverage the organizational buying power to optimize costs, access new suppliers, reduce lead times, and ensure compliant articles.
- Work with various departments to develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
- Act as a liaison with suppliers forNon-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Collaborate with the Materials team to identify and address discrepancies and initiate PO changes as required.
- Respond to customer services inquiries, clarify requirements, and provide information as needed.
- Act as a mentor to upskill team members, provide guidance on best practices, and share career insight and expertise
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Design, Engineering, Oceans Technology, Supply Chain Management, or relevant career experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive technical mechanical design/engineering
- experience.
- Minimum two (2) years procuring and sourcing specialized materials and services.
- Knowledge and experience with Canadas Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) Policy, trade agreements and various procurement strategies/approaches.
Security Requirements
