What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator position at Geotek LLC?
This position is responsible for maintaining, upgrading and managing software, server hardware and networks. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. This person should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly, with a willingness to work on any technology issue, including plant equipment. Patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users is key. The primary goal for this position will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
Essential Functions
- Install, configure and maintain software and hardware
- Manage network servers and technology tools
- Maintain security best practices through patching cadence and firmware upgrade management
- Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
- Troubleshoot issues and outages
- Ensure security and business continuity through access controls, backups and firewalls
- Upgrade systems with new releases and models
- Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
- Perform second level Help Desk work ensuring users get prompt and expert service
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements / Qualifications
- 3-5 years of proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
- Experience with Windows servers, patching, GPO management, networks (LAN, WAN), DNS and DHCP
- Knowledge of firewall administration, camera systems, data backup/recovery, WAPs
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
- Experience with databases, SQL Server and SSRS
- Experience administering programs (Azure AD, InTune, Exchange Hybrid, Solidworks, VPN)
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent communication skills
- BS/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is a plus
- Must be able to speak/read/write English effectively
