Position Description
Mineralogy Laboratory Technician :
The primary responsibilities of a mineralogy laboratory technician are to carry out the tasks assigned to him / her by the Metallurgical Engineer, Sr Metallurgical Technician, or the designated supervisor, safely and efficiently. These tasks are varied, and you will be trained for each specific task you will be asked to perform.
The following list includes most of the tasks that are to be performed by the Metallurgical Laboratory Technician. Most of these tasks will have a written procedure and will be preceded by training prior to starting any task.

- Sample Receipt and inventory Weigh and record
- Lab ID and sample labeling
- Sample Preparation
- Crushing
- Jaw Crusher Roll Crusher
- Blending
- Table roll cloth Floor roll cloth Riffle
- Pug Mill
- Cone and Quarter Splitting
- Riffle
- Large Rotary Small Rotary Roll cloth
- Screening
- Wet Screen – Sweco Wet Screen – 8” Dry Screen - Gilson Dry Screen – Sweco
- Dry Screen – Ro-Tap
- Assist Sr. Metallurgical Technician or Engineer Flotation Assistant
- Grinding in rod mill Pressure filter samples Vacuum Filter samples Decant
- Titration
- Maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Assist with / perform routine chemical and / or metallurgical analysis.
- Handle various chemical reagents safely.
- Dispose of all residues in a safe and prescribed manner.
- Monitor multiple assays at once.
- Collect and report results accurately.
- Assist others as requested or assigned.
- Perform related duties as required.

Environment

Atmospheric conditions : One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin : Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation. Oils : There is air and / or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids. Hazards : Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. The worker is required to wear a respirator.
Salary : $20
