Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of construction projects by providing accurate cost estimates and ensuring effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires strong negotiation skills, proficiency in construction estimating software, and a solid understanding of project management principles.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other relevant documents.
- Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid to create precise estimates and manage project data.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop budgets and monitor costs throughout the project duration.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing and terms.
- Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and correspondence related to each project.
- Provide support during the bidding process by preparing bid proposals and presenting estimates to clients.
- Monitor market trends and material costs to ensure competitive pricing in estimates.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with clients and subcontractors.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate cost calculations.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear presentation of estimates and proposals.
