POSITION:
- Elementary Functional Learning Center Instructional Assistant (multiple positions)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT / SALARY:
- 7.5 hours per day
- $18.12-$24.41 (DOE)
STARTING DATE:
- February 2025
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree, 72 quarter (48 semester) hours of post-secondary coursework or High School Diploma and pass a rigorous Paraeducator local assessment.
- Evidence of good leadership and citizenship qualities and an interest in students.
- Ability to communicate well with adults and children.
- Prior job-related experience recommended, but not required.
- Preferred Qualification: Strong Reading and Math Skills.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable; and
- Have a current First Aid card.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be willing to learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ADS) and how autism affects students; to listen, learn, and respond to individual students with ADS; and to reflect on own practices to continuously develop one’s own knowledge and skills regarding ASD
- Assist students with Autism and support them to develop and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance.
- Be willing to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the workday, when appropriate.
