This remote position presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program within the School of Arts and Humanities.
Key Responsibilities
In this capacity, you will be entrusted with the following core responsibilities:
- Instructing a total of 5 courses (15 credit hours) each semester, utilizing both in-person and online formats.
- Actively engaging in the development and enhancement of the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program.
- Contributing to research initiatives related to graphic design.
- Providing mentorship and academic advising to students, supporting their personal and professional growth.
- Participating in service-oriented activities within the School of Arts and Humanities and the broader college community.
- Holding designated office hours to offer academic guidance to students.
- Ensuring that students achieve designated learning outcomes in each course.
- Offering supplementary assistance to students requiring academic improvement.
- Upholding professionalism and fostering a constructive academic environment.
- Demonstrating technical proficiency in utilizing studio equipment, including computers, scanners, printers (including 3D technology), and other digital devices.
- Executing additional duties as assigned by the Dean.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A strong foundation as a practicing designer, with an interest in the history of Native America.
- Proficiency in design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite.
- A solid understanding of instructional methodologies and evaluation techniques relevant to higher education, alongside an ability to integrate technology effectively within classroom and lab settings.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with students, colleagues, and the wider community.
- A minimum of a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Visual Arts or a related discipline is required.
- A terminal degree (MFA in Graphic Design or equivalent) from an accredited institution is preferred, along with demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching.
