Key Responsibilities
- Remain knowledgeable about the latest advancements in hardware and software technology.
- Learn and apply assistive technologies and applications tailored for individuals with visual challenges.
- Collaborate closely with the Assistive Technology Manager to facilitate professional knowledge sharing through workshops, conferences, and training days.
- Design and implement innovative and engaging educational programs for both children and adults in various settings, including residential and remote environments.
- Fulfill all necessary documentation to ensure the educational requirements of each student are effectively met in individual and group contexts.
- Deliver instructive sessions in a technology center and assist in the recruitment of program participants.
- Conduct ongoing research on emerging technology and applications to stay abreast of field developments.
- Ensure that all technology services provided meet high standards of quality and are delivered promptly.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with local school districts, funding sources, and relevant organizations.
- Provide technology services to children within both public and private educational institutions.
- Offer consultative support to educators and school personnel, including assessments and lesson plan development.
- Extend training and assistance to parents and caregivers as necessary.
- Collaborate with internal teams to address the assistive technology requirements of employees and offer assessments and training as needed.
- Complete and promptly submit all requisite documentation.
- Adapt to evolving role demands and execute additional responsibilities as required.
- Exceptional communication abilities, with a proven capacity to work collaboratively with diverse individuals.
- Strong proficiency in mainstream technology, including computers, tablets, smartphones, and relevant software applications.
- In-depth knowledge of hardware and software installation on both PC and Macintosh systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with Google applications (Docs, Sheets) and mobile device applications (iOS, Android).
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technological developments.
- Capability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- A minimum of an associate's degree in teaching, vocational training, technology, or education is preferred. Relevant formal training certifications in software or hardware applications may substitute for an advanced degree.
- Ideally, one year of experience in a teaching or training capacity.
