Job Overview

The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) is a pivotal leadership role dedicated to enhancing the delivery of patient-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented care. This position employs a comprehensive approach to patient care, recognizing the critical role of family, support networks, and cultural ties in the recovery journey. The CCO is responsible for spearheading quality enhancement initiatives within clinical programs, managing clinical risk, overseeing accreditation processes, and ensuring that all clinical operations are congruent with the organization’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the formulation and monitoring of clinical key performance indicators (KPIs) in collaboration with team members.
  • Establish and implement best practices in clinical care while adapting programs to fulfill community needs.
  • Develop and uphold policies and procedures that promote quality care in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Supervise direct service delivery in residential and outpatient programs addressing substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric conditions.
  • Lead clinical Family Wellness initiatives, including home visits and family group sessions.
  • Collaborate with medical, clinical, and administrative personnel to provide case consultations and contribute to treatment planning.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate documentation within electronic health records (EHR) in line with organizational protocols.
  • Participate in clinical training programs aimed at professional advancement.
  • Manage crisis situations and provide high-level support to clinical teams as required.
  • Create educational materials and training programs for staff to promote best practices and clinical pathways.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand behavioral health services for participants.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership abilities in clinical environments.
  • Strong comprehension of trauma-informed care principles.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining compliance-oriented policies and procedures.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Capable of providing crisis management support.
  • Familiarity with privacy regulations and standards (HIPAA, 42-CFR Part 2).

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid license in Alaska as a Physician, Professional Counselor, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist, or Psychological Associate.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant patient care experience.
  • Current CPR certification or completion within 30 days of employment.
  • Fulfillment of required continuing education credits for Clinical License and Clinical Supervisor.
