Key Responsibilities
- Engage in a preparatory phase by reviewing and maintaining confidential medical histories of participants.
- Collaborate with parents and staff to address health and safety requirements.
- Establish the program infirmary and devise emergency protocols.
- Complete health and safety training as mandated.
- Ensure availability for consultation during program hours (24⁄7 availability required).
- Oversee the execution of the safety plan’s medical components.
- Conduct initial health screenings and monitor health daily.
- Manage health emergencies and coordinate medical care as required.
- Maintain medical logs and oversee infirmary operations.
- Administer participant medications and supervise self-administration processes.
- Train staff on medication administration procedures.
- Accompany participants during field trips.
- After program completion, organize medical records and dismantle the infirmary.
- Maintain regular communication with program staff to ensure participant safety and provide feedback to enhance health measures for future programs.
- Maryland State certification or Compact Nursing License as a physician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Capacity to manage high-stress scenarios and medical emergencies.
- Proficiency in Google Drive and other web-based platforms.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Compliance with background check standards and vaccination requirements.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in summer camps, educational settings, or similar environments is preferred.
- Experience working with high school students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds is a plus.
- Access to a personal vehicle, along with a valid driver's license and a clean driving history is preferred.
