Key Responsibilities
- Review student medical histories and collaborate with parents and staff to ensure a secure and healthy program environment.
- Prepare the program infirmary for operations.
- Engage in mandated health and safety training.
- Work alongside fellow health directors to address program-wide health and safety requirements.
- Remain accessible to respond to student health needs 24⁄7.
- Oversee the execution of health and safety protocols.
- Conduct health evaluations and daily wellness check-ins with students.
- Manage health crises and injuries, including administering first aid and coordinating medical care.
- Supervise the camp infirmary, including medication management and documentation.
- Accompany students during field trips.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Health Director to maintain adequate staffing levels.
- Provide constructive feedback to refine future programs.
- A valid Maryland State certification or Compact Nursing License (physician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse).
- Experience in summer camps or educational environments is preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Capability to remain composed in high-pressure situations and during emergencies.
- A commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Proficiency in Google Drive and other digital communication tools.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Possession of the necessary Maryland State certification or Compact Nursing License.
- Preferred experience in working with children in summer camp or educational settings.
