Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and seasoned Recreation Manager to oversee our resort’s recreation and aquatic services, ensuring that guests enjoy exceptional and memorable experiences. This pivotal role includes the management of pool operations, adherence to safety guidelines, and the creation of an engaging ambiance where guests can unwind and have fun.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the management of the Recreation, Fitness Center, and Aquatics programs, ensuring adherence to all safety, service, and grooming standards.
  • Supervise pool operations, which encompass towel service, retail sales, and guest attendant services such as escorting guests to their seating and providing refreshing spritzes.
  • Conduct interviews and recruit team members and vendors, ensuring proper contracts and approvals are in place.
  • Implement and uphold departmental and resort policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Analyze guest needs and trends, as well as competitor offerings, to propose enhancements to services and operations that boost guest satisfaction and profitability.
  • Design and execute seasonal recreation schedules and special event programs for holidays and other occasions.
  • Collaborate with meeting planners to organize group recreational activities and prepare event orders.
  • Effectively communicate activity schedules and special events to relevant departments to maximize guest engagement and revenue opportunities.
  • Develop weekly staffing schedules while ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Maintain shift reports, payroll records, and establish departmental goals along with performance evaluations for staff.
  • Ensure cleanliness and functionality of all recreation areas, including the pool deck, fitness center, and game rooms, meeting the highest service standards.
  • Oversee the Aquatics Training Program to guarantee all staff receive proper training and certification.
  • Manage the annual departmental budget, ensuring effective cost management.
  • Facilitate monthly recreation staff meetings and participate in relevant departmental meetings and training sessions.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication at all times, maintaining a friendly and supportive environment for both guests and colleagues.
  • Address any issues or concerns promptly and apply emergency protocols as necessary, adhering to all hotel safety measures.
  • Maintain all equipment and work areas in excellent condition, complying with hotel policies and upholding cleanliness standards at all times.
  • Stay updated on resort developments and changes, ensuring all staff are informed.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership capabilities with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in managing high-volume pool or recreation facilities.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is essential.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Recreation/Aquatics Management/Supervisory roles is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in recreation and aquatics management is necessary.
  • An Associate's Degree in a related field is preferred.
