We are in search of a seasoned and proactive Vice President of Operations who will spearhead the daily operational activities within the transportation, logistics, and brokerage sectors. This pivotal role is instrumental in fostering operational excellence, elevating customer satisfaction, and ensuring optimal resource utilization. As a strategic visionary, you will enhance performance, drive profitability, and uphold compliance with industry standards while cultivating a workplace culture centered on safety, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization in establishing a culture of operational excellence to deliver exceptional service for customers and professional drivers.
  • Supervise daily operations across transportation, logistics, and brokerage sectors, ensuring dependable and cost-efficient services.
  • Enhance efficiency by optimizing fleet utilization, personnel allocation, and technological resources.
  • Drive ongoing process enhancements by leveraging data and technology to refine workflows and boost profitability.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the attainment of business objectives.
  • Formulate contingency strategies and manage responses to operational interruptions to guarantee service continuity.
  • Collaborate with the Safety team to uphold compliance with transportation regulations and safety protocols.
  • Work closely with the Maintenance team to enhance driver performance and fulfill operational expectations, including MPG goals.
  • Assume complete responsibility for P&L across all operational divisions, diligently monitoring financial outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reductions and efficiency improvements through performance metric analysis.
  • Partner with the finance team to address cost drivers and implement financial optimization strategies.
  • Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key customers and partners, fostering long-term business success.
  • Ensure that your team focuses on existing customer growth while spotting new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to grasp customer requirements, provide operational insights, and facilitate alignment with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Tackle and resolve operational challenges or service issues to preserve strong and enduring customer connections.
  • Play an essential role in onboarding new customers, ensuring their seamless integration into the company's transportation and logistics framework.
  • Oversee the enhancement of transportation management systems (TMS), fleet tracking, and route optimization software.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and innovations to maintain the company’s competitive edge.
  • Actively contribute to a culture of innovation, driving advancements in both operational and financial performance.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the operations team, fostering accountability, creativity, and continuous enhancement.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop top-tier talent, facilitating training and professional growth for team enhancement.
  • Participate actively in the Leadership Team, influencing the company’s strategic direction and future trajectory.
  • Champion the company culture, advocating for a workplace where all employees can excel.
  • Mentor future leaders, ensuring a robust succession planning process within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership experience managing extensive transportation and logistics operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of freight contracts, carrier operations, and logistics management.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), route optimization, and logistics technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance standards, particularly concerning fleet operations.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
