Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess medical and service records to prepare for hearings.
- Conduct comprehensive client interviews and facilitate hearing preparation consultations.
- Present cases in virtual hearings before the Board of Veterans Appeals.
- Draft essential legal documents, including post-hearing memoranda, motions, and writs as required.
- Request and evaluate medical and vocational assessments to strengthen case arguments.
- Collaborate effectively with an assigned case manager, guiding and reviewing communications.
- Participate actively in regular team meetings conducted via Zoom.
- Make preliminary determinations on appeals based on Board decisions, communicating outcomes to clients.
- Admission to the bar in a U.S. state or territory is mandatory.
- Familiarity with VA accreditation is preferred but not obligatory.
- Previous experience in Veterans Disability or Social Security law is advantageous.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong legal research capabilities.
- A steadfast commitment to client advocacy and ethical practice.
- Proficiency in utilizing remote collaboration tools such as Zoom, Teams, and Slack.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Demonstrated experience in legal practice, particularly in the fields of Veterans Disability or Social Security law is preferred.
