You will play a significant part in the implementation of a new program, collaborating closely with the Finance Director and team members to ensure adherence to fiscal policies and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing activities for a new initiative within the Finance Department
- Manage all transactions related to accounts payable and receivable
- Review and process disbursements efficiently
- Reconcile entries associated with credit card transactions
- Prepare and process invoices for grants and contracts, monitoring progress effectively
- Post all transactions and disbursements accurately to the general ledger
- Collaborate with colleagues to formulate and execute new procedures
- Complete monthly journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Allocate expenses appropriately to programs and monitor expenditures by revenue source
- Support the preparation of financial statements, reports, and audit documentation
- Communicate with team members and management to ensure compliance with established policies
- Maintain spreadsheets and perform routine data entry tasks
- Conduct internal audits of pre-paid financial assistance cards
- Serve as a backup for payroll and purchasing functions
- Participate in special projects and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and accounting software (e.g., Financial Edge)
- Exceptional attention to detail and outstanding organizational abilities
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality and work effectively both independently and in a team setting
- Willingness to seek clarification and learn new processes proactively
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline (4 years of relevant experience may substitute for formal education)
- At least one year of accounting experience is required
- Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain one within 30 days of relocation)
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Previous experience in nonprofit finance is preferred but not mandatory
