This position will be instrumental in supporting various entities within our organization and will collaborate closely with both the Accounting Manager and the Director of Finance to oversee a wide array of accounting and financial activities, which include member billing, collections, and loan management. Furthermore, this role will contribute significantly to the annual budgeting process, financial reporting, and audit preparations.
Key Responsibilities
- Member Billing & Collections:
- Oversee the billing processes for multiple properties and assist in establishing payment plans.
- Manage the 30-60-90-day collections process, ensuring timely follow-ups and resolutions.
- Loan Management:
- Establish and monitor new loans, generate monthly statements, record payments, and provide status updates.
- Chapter Finance Support:
- Act as a financial consultant for chapter officers and volunteers.
- Deliver training and ongoing communication regarding financial best practices.
- Financial Reporting & General Ledger Management:
- Maintain general ledger accounts while validating journal entries.
- Execute reclassification, manual, accrual, and reversal journal entries.
- Conduct general ledger account reconciliations and month-end closing procedures.
- Prepare financial reports and analyses to guide decision-making.
- Audit & Budgeting Support:
- Aid in preparing for annual audits, ensuring adherence to financial regulations.
- Engage in the annual budgeting process, delivering key financial insights.
- Collaboration & Special Projects:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on system enhancements and financial process optimizations.
- Coordinate with external firms on tax returns, licenses, and compliance issues.
- Facilitate internal training initiatives for new employees and volunteers.
- Provide support for ad hoc research and special projects as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of accounting or finance experience, ideally within a nonprofit or membership-based organization.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint); familiarity with Sage Intacct is advantageous.
- Superior analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities in a dynamic environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks, work autonomously, and meet deadlines effectively.
