Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the preparation of period-end closing journal entries for approval and integration into the accounting system (Costpoint).
- Guarantee the timely and precise reporting of monthly financial data, including journal entry evaluations and account reconciliations.
- Contribute to the budgeting process as requested.
- Calculate and assess indirect rates.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, including the verification of purchase orders, pricing, payment terms, and other charges.
- Execute weekly check runs and support the monthly accounts payable closing.
- Organize paid vendor vouchers and reconcile vendor statements.
- Assist with payroll processing tasks.
- Prepare and record monthly journal entries for the month-end closing process.
- Facilitate the annual 1099 reporting process.
- Aid in research, compliance, and government audits as necessary.
- Undertake other duties as assigned by the Controller or President.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and practices, with the capability to handle diverse routine accounting tasks.
- Familiarity with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and collaboration across teams.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced, evolving work environment.
- Acute attention to detail and the capacity to analyze accounting data to identify and rectify errors.
- Competence in responding to auditors and external organizations as required.
- Experience managing multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Microsoft Word.
- Prior experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- A minimum of 4 years of professional accounting experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or relevant public accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience in government contracts and cost accounting for various contract types (T&M, FFP, CP, etc.) is desired.
- Awareness of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is a plus.
- Proficiency in Costpoint software is advantageous.
- Experience in internal or external auditing is preferred.
