Remote Accountant for Month-End Close in Ames, IA

Key Responsibilities

• Support the month-end close process by ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and adherence to internal protocols.
• Prepare and analyze corporate financial statements, including Balance Sheets, Income Statements, Statements of Cash Flows, General Ledger entries, and Statements of Equity.
• Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to safeguard financial accuracy.
• Ensure adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations and revenue recognition standards.
• Oversee and track multi-state sales tax filings and compliance.
• Facilitate the annual financial audit by providing necessary documentation to external auditors and aiding in the preparation of audited financial statements.
• Continuously identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  
  

Required Skills

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, enabling effective analysis and management of financial data.
• Experience with ERP software is advantageous; familiarity with Sage 300 and Sage Intacct (or experience transitioning between accounting systems) is highly preferred.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational abilities with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and following through on commitments.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
