Role Overview
As a Senior Accountant, you will work in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer and the Accounting Manager, assuming responsibility for the daily accounting operations across multiple development entities. We seek a detail-oriented professional with exceptional problem-solving skills, a solid knowledge of accounting software, and the ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting functions in QuickBooks for development companies and associated project entities, managing cash receipts and disbursements.
- Execute month-end responsibilities including bank and account reconciliations, general ledger closings, financial statements, and quarterly reporting for multiple entities.
- Prepare and reconcile monthly construction draw requests, funding payments, and outstanding invoices.
- Create and document journal entries for accrued expenses and revenue.
- Act as a liaison for vendors, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and discuss financial matters.
- Compile necessary documentation for audits, cost certifications, and tax returns.
- Assist with the year-end audit and tax return processes across multiple entities.
- Review ownership agreements, particularly concerning cash flow waterfall preparation.
- Respond to special requests for internal and external information.
- Analyze operational accounting and reporting provided by third-party management firms.
- Support special projects and ad-hoc reporting requirements as needed.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Self-motivated individual with the capacity to work independently while maintaining a client-focused approach.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with both remote and on-site teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and execute assignments efficiently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
- Background in real estate development, affordable housing, and/or monthly draw preparation.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience is preferred.
- Practical experience with QuickBooks and Bill.com.
